Our Medical Director
Mark Hamed, M.D., M.B.A., M.P.H.
Dr. Mark Hamed, M.D., M.B.A., M.P.H. is the Medical Director for Huron, Lapeer, Saginaw, Sanilac, Tuscola, and District #2 Health Departments.
He is responsible for the medical/health oversight of and participation in these programs. Problems arising may be either anticipated or unanticipated and be related to communicable/infectious diseases; all forms of environmental contamination, food/water-borne illnesses, and commercial products posing a threat to human health and well-being, and animal health issues that have the potential for negatively impacting human health.

Kathy Haskins has been with Lapeer County Health Department since 1985. Initially working as a Public Health Nurse, she has also served as the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator and Nurse Administrator; assuming the role of Health Officer in May of 2017.
To meet the health department mission of “Protecting and Promoting the Health of Lapeer County”, we rely on collaboration with both our local partners and public health partners in neighboring counties.
As public health resources continue to decline, the ability to ensure disease prevention and health promotion services for our community becomes much more challenging. Collaboration and problem-solving on a regional level with counties of similar demographics as Lapeer County has allowed for opportunities to improve efficiencies through the use of technology and sharing of staff expertise, thereby creating more cost-effective options.

Bryant Wilke, R.S., M.P.H.
Bryant Wilke has served as Health Office and Director of Environmental Health Services for Sanilac County Health Department for the last 16 months and has over 27 years of environmental public health experience working in a variety of local public health programs.
"In meeting our community needs, forming partnerships with other local county health departments and community partners is key in successfully reaching positive health outcomes. As resources become limited, it’s up to health department leaders to become innovated and foster ideas to compete successfully for a stake in declining funds and continuing much needed services across our region."
"A collaborative approach allows for cross jurisdictional sharing of ideas, program insights and foster best practices among participates. It just makes good business sense to formulate opportunities through a collaborative effort than it would if each agency stood on its own."
